aHb Founders

September 2010, aHb was Born

The GFC rippled across the globe with devastating effects on the business community and families. Steve and Susie Bennett and Brian and Helen Maguire felt and saw the effect first hand in their own businesses and through their network. They realised that fellow business owners were not coping well and had no support.

Most business people were isolated while they tried to work out what to do as financial pressures increased in the office and effected their families and home life.

Hence aboutHisbusiness was born, to support, nurture and encourage Christian business people to make great decisions, seek wise counsel and PRAY! It was to be a place where business people could be themselves. Come as they are!

What aHb means to our Founders

Small business people are my heroes because they are the most innovative, talented, courageous people on the face of the planet and I want to hang out with them. (Steve)

I am constantly amazed and encouraged by people’s resilience in the face of adversity, whether it’s isolation that is so prevalent amongst small businesspeople, market downturns, financial pressures or the work/family balancing act. I am convinced that through aHb we can tap into that resilience and encourage and inspire further acts of heroism; that we can collectively celebrate our victories in the marketplace and that we, ordinary business men and women, can live abundantly fruitful lives. (John 10:10) (Susie)

It has always frustrated me that the people who are willing to take the risks and go into business and put themselves and everything on the line, too often do not get all the rewards they deserve. My passion is helping business people achieve all they desire. And I wanted to provide a place where Christians in business could come together to do just that – and to support each other and tap into the enormous power we have in God to impact the business world and to shine the light of that power in the marketplace. Ephesians 1:17-20 is at the heart of aHb for me. (Brian)

I love the concept of Christians supporting Christians; in our case in business. We’re all out there in the community, in our different capacities, going about His business, shining the light for Jesus, and I think it’s really valuable to be able to come together and celebrate that and support each other through the battles and the victories. We wanted to create a safe place for people to come to, to find nurture, encouragement and inspiration. The idea of ‘come as you are’ to me means come dressed as you go to work, and be proud of it. Tradies overalls or suits, are all equal to God so they are to us. Come and drink of the goodness of God. (Helen)

The Founders of aHb

March 2017

It is on that sure, persistent, loving foundation, where businesses have revived and been encouraged to keep going, where new friendships have been forged through adversity, and testimonies have revealed the love of the Father, that aHb transitions into a new season.

Thank you so much for your Faith, your love for God our Father, your prayers and tears. All these precious substances you have sown into all around you, the next generations, the ground and into the Kingdom.

We are all forever grateful for your early morning prayer preparation, administration and management of the group every month to help everyday business people over the line and rise for a new day.
